Meet The Crew | Print |  E-mail

George The SkipperI was only nine in 1977 when my family bought our first boat, it was an 18 foot cabin cruiser. We called it Pardner because we towed it with an Audi (Audi Pardner). It was not long before we needed a bigger boat to carry all of the fishermen who wanted to go off fishing with us. A short time later we bought the G.E.M., a 42 foot keel boat and started operating it as a charter fishing vessel.Since then we have had several charter vessels including the Fray and the Just About. My Fathers present vessel is the Charisma.Joyce Hard at Work in the galley

For 9 years  I worked as a commercial fisherman. This part of my life has given me an indepth insight into the locations of hundreds of the boat wrecks in the North Sea. While these wrecks can be a problem for the commercial trawler industry, we can fish off these wrecks and our anglers catch some outstanding fish. Please have a look at the Captain's Blog for a selection of some of the recent trips.

Recently we have been joined by my son Chris as deckhand, keeping it in the family so to speak. Chris works filleting fish and ensuring that anglers spend all their time angling

The third crew member is my wife Joyce, who like Chriis, is extremely hard working. Joyce is responsible for looking after 12 anglers and the crew while we are at sea. Joyce enjoys preparing top quality meals for everybody and handling all of the tasks that Chris or myself don't have time for. There is a special talent needed to prepare a Sunday roast in a gale. Joyce is also responsible for the majority of the photographs you see on this website. Joyce and I have 3 grown up children; 2 girls and 1 boy.

Anyway, like I said, this is just a short note as I'm a hell of a fisherman but not much of a writer. Myself and my crew look forward to seeing you on the Chieftain soon.

Best Wishes,

George Metcalfe.
