What People Say

Here are a few Quotes from people who have made trips on the Chieftain-

“As long as I live, I doubt I will ever see cod fishing the likes of this again… unless I book another charter aboard Chieftain out of Whitby.”  - Dave Lewis, Sea Angler

Sea Angler Cod

"My best trip ever and I'm already planning my next session on Chieftain." World Sea Fishing Trip Report - Here

 Ivan Bell Chieftain Regular

The pirk got the feeling of hitting the bottom.......nope!!! You couldn't get to the bottom for Cod . With every single rod bending over all pulling fish aboard , the deck became alive with straining faces all happy to be into fish. The drift was set up again and so the process began again. This went on for 3 or so hour (i lost all track of time) . Cod and Ling coming over everywhere, all different shapes ,sizes and amounts. But more so , the weight was increasing. 4 Cod Drop

I've just come back from a rather different boat fishing experience aboard 'Chieftain', from Whitby. For those used to fishing wrecks in the south of the country, Chieftain is an extraordinary experience, travelling far out into the North Sea fishing wrecks seldom visited, producing good quantities of large fish.
Although we were told that the fishing on this trip was much poorer than usual, to our 'southern' eyes it was fantastic. Dallydog and myself had the trip of our lives, 100 miles offshore, fishing the Dogger Bank, for cod and ling. George, the skipper, handles the boat very well and with a length of 80ft it is possible for all anglers to fish the same side resulting in very few tangles as we drift across the wreck site. When a tangle did occur it was soon cleared by Eddie, the crewman, who always appeared to be on-hand to help when needed. He was also there to show you how to break your line free if you managed to snag the wreck, without breaking your rod and for a small fee he will also fillet your catch for you - what a nice man!The 'hidden treasure' of this trip was the food; Chieftain's longer trips include accommodation and meals. This is the domain of George's wife, Joyce. What she produces in the small and very 'mobile' galley is a triumph - one evening she served us Roast Pork for dinner and I felt I should have been wearing a jacket and tie rather than the fleece and salopettes I'd been fishing in all day, lol!
